Sherborn Community Volunteer Opportunities
The Council on Aging is
working hard to provide additional support to seniors and their families.
Presently, we are looking for more volunteer drivers, friendly visitors and
SureLine callers. Please call the COA office at 508-651-7858 to obtain a
volunteer package with program descriptions and meet our new Volunteer
Coordinator Ani Gigarjian.
Volunteers!
Volunteers! Volunteers!
What would we do without them? Sherborn Council on Aging will be honoring
volunteers' contributions to Sherborn's seniors on Thursday, May 22 at
the Sherborn Community Center. Here are some of the jobs our devoted
volunteers do: Make SureLine calls to homebound
seniors. Provide transportation to Drop-In
luncheons and COA/Town events. Get out the Sherborn Link.
Serve as members or associates on the COA Board. Host Shared Sunday meals.
Host "Afternoon at the Movies" for Woodhaven residents. Speak or perform at the
weekly Drop-In Luncheons.
Do You Have a Home That Needs Some TLC?
Housing for
All, a MetroWest affordable housing rehab and advocacy group, is
looking for home and property restoration projects for those in need. We are
seeking projects that can be completed within a day or two by a team of
experienced handyman supervisors and volunteers. Examples of projects include
window and door winterizing, retrofitting bathrooms and ramp construction for
those with disabilities, building clean-up, wallpaper removal, interior and
exterior painting, and outdoor clean-up. Our construction team will evaluate and
discuss projects with each property owner before we start so that expectations
are clear. All labor and materials costs will be provided by Housing for All.
Volunteers
are welcome.
Our first spring project date is May 10th.
If we have the projects and the people we may add some other dates.
