When violin prodigy Xiaochun and his father head to Beijing seeking fame and fortune, they discover a fierce world of cutthroat ambition,  Finally, Xiaochun is taken under the wing of a famous tutor and success finally seems within reach until a shocking discovery unravels his entire world.  Roger Ebert warns---"This is movie not afraid of strong, basic emotions and it gets away with it.  Expect lots of damp eyes in the audience. Hollywood once had the knack for making audience pleasers like this, before it got too clever for its own good."
